About Principal Driscoll
Greetings families! It is with great joy and pride that I welcome you to Maple Hill Elementary School. This is my sixth year as the Principal of Maple Hill and my 23rd year in education.
My journey in Middletown began back in 2012. After eleven years of teaching I had the good fortune to join the Middletown School District as an AIS math teacher at Chorley Elementary School. Over the next few years I transitioned to working as a Math TOSA (Teacher On Special Assignment) in Presidential Park, Truman Moon, and William A. Carter Elementary Schools. I joined Maple Hill Elementary School in 2016 as an Administrative Intern. In the following years I became an Assistant Principal, an Interim Principal, and then the Principal of Maple Hill. My time in Middletown has been an incredible journey full of learning, connections, joy, challenges, and growth. I would not trade my time and experiences here for the world!
When it comes to education I truly believe that all children, no matter what challenges and circumstances they may have to overcome, have the ability to learn, grow, and be successful if provided with an environment that is supportive and full of opportunities. Throughout my professional life I have worked to provide the best possible learning environment for children, whether it was in the classroom as a teacher or in the school as an administrator. I consider every child at Maple Hill to be “mine” and treat them with the thoughtfulness, care and respect that implies. Our children deserve to have the best teachers, engaging instruction, and an environment in which they can learn not only academics, but what makes them special and unique as human beings. I love what I do, and my passion for serving children and families has not waned over the years.
My ultimate goal for Maple Hill is to create a supportive and inclusive environment in which all children can learn and thrive. My hope is that our scholars will develop an excitement and passion for learning which will last a lifetime, in a school environment that feels warm and welcoming to anyone who enters.
While education is my passion, I have interests outside of school as well. I have been married for 29 years and have three wonderful adult children; a daughter and son living in the Mid-West and a son who is senior in high school. I love to read, cook, garden, hike and take walks with my springer spaniel. My husband and I also love to travel and have enjoyed many adventures together over the years.
Over the course of my career I have had the good fortune to work in several schools and school districts. I can honestly say that the Middletown School District is incredible, and Maple Hill is the most wonderful place that I have ever worked. The staff are the hardest working, most dedicated group of people I have had the good fortune to spend my days with in any school. The entire culture of the district is focused on doing what is best for children, and this attitude permeates everything we do.
At Maple Hill we are continually learning, growing and evolving. We are excited to partner with families in educating our children. Together with our families we make a strong team that is sure to create a successful experience for every child.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to serve this community and look forward to a continued partnership with the families, children and staff of Maple Hill. Please do not hesitate to contact me to share your thoughts and ideas for how we can continue to improve your experience as part of the Maple Hill family.
Warmly,
Susanne Driscoll
