Welcome to Maple Hill Elementary School, a vibrant learning community serving scholars from Kindergarten through fifth grade. At Maple Hill, we offer a rich educational experience that combines general education with specialized programs, including a dual-language program and various self-contained special education programs. Our campus is thoughtfully designed with a single-story building divided into four color-coded wings, each hosting grades of a similar level to create a cohesive and navigable environment for our scholars.
School Day Structure
Morning drop off starts promptly at 8:20 a.m., marking the beginning of an engaging and productive day of learning. Dismissal procedures start at 2:55 p.m., with buses departing by 3:15 p.m. Given our location, the majority of our scholars utilize bus transportation, as walking to school is not a feasible option.
Collaborative Teaching Approach
Maple Hill takes pride in our team teaching model, where educators collaborate to deliver a comprehensive curriculum. One teacher focuses on English Language Arts—including reading, writing, vocabulary, and spelling—while their counterpart specializes in mathematics, science, and social studies. This arrangement allows teachers to concentrate on their areas of expertise and provide scholars with a dynamic and rounded educational experience. Scholars travel with their homeroom class between these subject-specific classrooms, benefiting from the specialized knowledge of each teacher.
Daily Schedule and Nutritional Support
Our scholars enjoy a 45-minute lunch and recess period, alongside a 45-minute special class each day. The lunch period is an opportunity for scholars to socialize with their peers across grade levels, with all scholars having access to two free meals daily—a pre-fuel breakfast and a refuel lunch, offering both hot and cold meal options. Special classes rotate weekly, including art, music, library, and physical education, ensuring a well-rounded educational experience.
Supportive Staff and Resources
Maple Hill is supported by a dedicated team beyond our classroom teachers, including two school social workers, two school psychologists, two crisis interventionists, one student support facilitator, two assistant principals, and one principal. Additional support comes from academic interventionist teachers for those needing extra help, and English as a New Language teachers for our English language learners.
Communication and Family Engagement
Our primary tool for daily communication with families is Class Dojo, complemented by the Parent Portal, where families can access report cards and progress reports electronically. We actively encourage open communication lines between families and the school, understanding that a strong home-school connection is crucial for the success of our scholars.
